What the series is about?

The Fabulous lives of Bollywood Lives is a Dharmatic Entertainment produced docu-drama series consists of 8 episodes.

The show focuses on the lives of 4 Bollywood wives; Maheep Kapoor the wife of Sanjay Kapoor, Bhavana Panday the wife of Chunky Panday, Seema Khan the wife of Sohail Khan, and Neelam Kothari Soni the wife of Sameer Soni.

It gives a sneak peek into their off-screen lives. The KJo produced show looks like a combo of the famous reality shows like “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and “The rich housewives of Beverly Hills”.

Brief

It is a guilty pleasure of many of the Indian audiences to know how “normal” are celebrity lifestyles. There are some scenes where you have to take off your headphones or completely low the volume because the arguments and the conversations get loud enough to give you a pounding headache.

The episode starts with Maheep and Sanjay along with daughter Shanaya Kapoor leaving for the Le Bal charity event in Paris. The event is organized for privileged youngsters who are about to step into society as debutants from around the world.

And of course, Shanaya Kapoor is the only deserving person from India to be a part of Le Bal! Really?  The power of Nepotism!

Some cringe-worthy moments

The show lacks entertainment but there are some undeniable hysterical moments. There is a scene where the Kapoors are having lunch in Paris and Maheep and Shanaya start clicking pictures to which Sanjay says, “Do we order to eat or to click pictures” which proves Sanjay is the every Indian Dad!

Similarly, Chunky Panday fixing cameras in his house just to see who drinks his half whiskey. If not Chunky who else to expect these things from! But that one scene that had me rolling on the floor was when Bhavana Panday showed up in heels for a beach clean up and Mozez  Singh (Director-producer) showed up in Prada joggers!

It doesn’t end there, Bhavana Panday does not believe in using fillers and chemicals on her face so she uses the energy from the earth to naturally lift her face. Kudos to you Bhavana!

Maheep stalks her Juhu neighborhood from her balcony with a pair of binoculars and admits that she isn’t a stalker but she likes doing it. Bro, it is called stalking!

Characters

Talking about the characters, Neelam is the most sensible, calm and genuine amongst the other three, and is dubious about making a comeback in Bollywood; but its hard to figure what’s with her weird accent!

Maheep is a foul-mouthed woman who can barely complete a sentence without abusing and cannot do without wine.

Bhavana is a diplomat whereas Seema is an energetic wittier personality who keeps sending her pictures to Kim Kardashian hoping one day she’d get her reply!

There are a lot of star cameos in the show. Stars like Arjun Kapoor will be seen giving reality checks to Maheep about Nepotism for Shanaya, KJo crashing the luxurious lunch dates with the ladies, Gauri and Shahrukh on their party bash, Raveena Tondon and Ekta Kapoor talking to Neelam about her comeback in movies and Malaika arora and Jahnvi kapoor as well.

Final Take

The quad squad also plans a vacation to Doha giving us “Sex and the City” feels but unfortunately fails to impress us again.

The show is only about lavish lunches, a rich lifestyle, and too much glamour.

You will hardly gain any perspective after watching this “mundane” series. I would give a 4/10 to this series and still wondering why was Neelam Kothari even a part of this.

Thankyou KJo for being honest and saying, “ Why the f*#^! should I watch a show about 4 women who don’t have jobs” because same!
