Summary
Near the outskirts of Kanyakumari, at a shooting location, a dead body is found. The shooting crew confirms the corpse to be the female lead of the movie. As the news spreads like wildfire, it was later confirmed that the actress is alive and the corpse belongs to a girl called Velonie.
Due to pressure from higher authorities, the case of Velonie’s death goes to Sub Inspector Vivek. As he ponders over the clue and whereabouts of Valonie, the list of suspects starts to grow and Valonie, more than just a victim in a murder case, begins to haunt Vivek as a beautiful mystery that becomes difficult to solve.
Review
Vadhandhi: The Fable of Velonie is not just another crime thriller and this makes the series a bit unique from the rest. Rather than being a seat-edge thriller, Vadhandhi gnaws you up slowly and absorbs you into its world.
To start with the plus points of the series, the way the entire cast handled the Kanyakumari slang was impressive. Especially Vivek Prasanna was brilliant as Ramar. S. J. Suriyah was always an absolute delight and this time, rather than playing a loud character, he was a composed and disturbed cop.
Andrew’s writing takes the plot forward without any lag. Crime plays a subtext and the main theme of the series is what the title is about: Gossip and how it impacts people in society.
Conclusion
Vadhandhi is a highly recommended watch for those who like gripping yet slow thrillers that offers more than what it promises.
