Drishyam was one of the greatest ever crime thrillers made in Indian Cinema and we all know its impact on the audience.
When Jeethu Joseph released Drishyam for the first time in Malayalam, the industry got its all-time biggest grosser back then and it was remade in multiple languages.
Now as Jeethu is coming with a sequel to it, the question was loud and clear from the audience: “Will it be on par with the first part?” The answer is, “Hell it is!”.

Plot/Storyline
Georgekutty is now a theatre owner and is trying hard to make a movie with his own script. Even though his family’s financial condition is uplifted more now, his family is still living under the fear of getting caught or judged even after 6 years of Varun’s murder.
The police who find new breakthroughs regarding the Varun Murder Case and tighten their grip to bring down Georgekutty and his family with stronger proof this time, will Georgekutty be still able to defend the law with his brilliant mind games or will he surrender?
Performances
Too hard. It’s too hard to say who’s the best. Obviously, Mohanlal as Georgekutty is the backbone of the movie and the actor is absolutely brilliant onscreen with his subtle yet intense acting moments.
At the same time, the star cast – Meena, Ansiba, and Esther have delivered convincing performances with such ease that we all can easily connect to Georgekutty and his family whom we saw 13 years back on screen.
The new additions to the cast – Murali Gopy, Sai Kumar, etc were also good with their respective performances and nothing felt unusual with the story flow due to such new faces introduced to an old premise.
Review
It is a real hard task to make a sequel to a movie that was one of the biggest blockbusters and loved by many cine lovers. The best thing is not to touch such already perfect movies unless you are so sure of what you are going to make as a sequel to the same. In this case, it is clear that Jeethu was so sure of what he was going to make.
When Drishyam 2 was announced, more frowns were seen in common from the people because of this very fear of ruining the premise of a story which they loved and received with all their heart once.
Jeethu just proved all of them wrong again like a master. It has to be admitted now that he is one of the best directors in India when it comes to such crime thrillers.
From the start till the end, although you may feel that the movie started slow, it gains its pace in no time. Jeethu has made sure that nothing unnecessary is added to the plot and at the same time, the movie is as engaging as the first part.
Jeethu succeeded in maintaining the mood of the movie as it was in Drishyam. The last 45 minutes of Drishyam 2 is a treat for movie lovers.

Just Go For it.
It is a must-watch absolute crime thriller movie after a long lockdown in this Corona pandemic, don’t miss this thrill 🙂
