What’s it About?

Godzilla vs Kong is the latest installment from the Monsterverse and since the announcement of the project, the fans were going gaga about the same. The movie luckily got released in India before its global release and there was no chance that I was going to miss this visual treat. I did watch the movie and all I can say is… WOW!

“Loud, ludicrous, and featuring a final showdown that will likely make its target audience lose its mind, the latest MonsterVerse film is an improvement over its predecessor.”

Our review for Godzilla vs Kong is 9/10.

Summary

King Kong is seen protected inside a huge dome monitored by Monarch and the monster is often visited by Jia, a child who is the last inhabitant of the iwi tribe. Jia is deaf and dumb and Kong has an affection towards the child and listens to her words. Godzilla and Kong are the only remaining alphas on earth and Godzilla is seen advancing towards the Apex facility and destroys it for unknown reasons.

Madison russel along with her friend finds out Bernie Hayes, an ex-employer of Apex of whom she is a fan and the trio sets off to find the reason behind Godzilla’s fierceful attack out of the blue. They find out some shocking things related to Apex on their way.

Meanwhile, King Kong is transported to a facility in Antarctica in order to find an energy source from Hollow Earth and they discover an ecosystem similar to skull Island where they find remains of war between the ancestors of Kong and Godzilla. The rest of the story is all about the fearceface off between the giant and how the story unravels further
involving apex and the trio.

What’s Good?

To start with, extraordinary VFX works throughout the movie. No visual ever will make you go cringe and the makers are adamant to treat you with the best quality battle between the giants. Without much beating around the bush, the plot focuses on what has to be focused and stays tight in portraying the giants and their traveling. When the adrenaline-boosting clash between the monsters is backed up by some kickass BGM, you won’t be spared by goosebumps.

What’s Bad?

The biggest question raised by the movie during the promotions was ‘Who bows to who?’. In all ways, Godzilla vs Kong deals with epic face-offs but when it comes to screen timing, Kong bags the most of it leaving the Godzilla with just two options – to attack or retreat. Maybe the makers omitted the choice of giving Godzilla an equal character arc because of its detailed establishment in the previous installments. So anyway, make sure you watch Kong – Skull Island and Godzilla The King Of Monsters before you watch the movie, or else you may sit through the movie till the end
wondering why the big lizard is going crazy all the time!

Conclusion

Do you really think you can miss watching this one? (psst: Must watch in theatres!)
