After the Release
Let, the first talk about what if it was not released. If not for the release of this film, a vast majority of people would have gone unaware of the legendary personality of Forrest Gump. I donβt know the figures this film stamped at the box office and I couldnβt care less about the film experts ( although, majority of them praised the movie), this film was & is something people needed.
Iconic Dialogues from the Movie
‘Mama Always Said, Life Was Like a Box of Chocolates. You Never Know What You’re Gonna Get.β – Forrest
βOne day, it started raining, and it didnβt quit for four months. We have been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stinginβ rainβ¦ and big olβ fat rain. Rain that flew in sideways. And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. Shoot, it even rained at nightβ¦β β Forrest
Critic Reviews
βHistory just wouldn’t be the same without Forrest Gump. Movie history that is. An IMAX re-release 20 years later makes us want to know exactly where he was running to so fast.β Plugged in (On the re-release of the movie).
βThis film is “like a box of chocolates . . . you never know what you’re gonna get” as it serves up an abundance of surprising treats, sometimes sweet and sometimes bitter.β Common Sense Media
Plot Summary
Forrest Gump is a biography of Forrest Gump, which shows his life story from the time of his childhood, upbringing, Vietnam war participation to the point where he craves the company of his childhood best and only friend, Jenny.
Beautiful Presentation of the Story
The film sets beautiful weather throughout its runtime. It is a kind of movie with the βYou can do itβ vibes sprinkling all over the theaters. We all know how biographies could be monotonous and off the track quickly. Thankfully, Forrest Gump isnβt one of those films. As for me, Iβm counting it alongside biographies like Malcolm X, Bhag Milkha Bhag & Wolf of Wall Street. Biographies are very tough films to create, unlike other movies where you can play around with themes, events, and stories. Biographies have very little space for creativity. The event and story are pre-decided. You can not add or subtract things from it (Actually, you can, but to call it a biography, not a dramatical representation, you should not manipulate the story). Fortunately, the writers and director had perfect and precise plans for the movie that turned out to be phenomenal.
Acting Performance
Tom Hanks did a very commendable job. You can already guess the challenge of stepping into someoneβs shoes and portraying him like reality. Hanks deserves a severe amount of praise for his work in Forrest Gump. He truly made the character live again.
A Complain about the film being slow
The most common thing you will hear about Forrest Gump is that this film runs at a slow pace. I agree. This film is slow-paced, but it will not hurt you long or hurt you at all. As far as I can think of, slowness was required. If the film were like your typical drama film, fast-paced in which things happen one after another, it would have lost its sense and elegance. Again, its slowness is not going to hurt you big or at all.
Conclusion
Many good things happened to & with the film, like its beautiful presentation, acting, the performance of the cast, accurateness & preciseness of the story, and directorβs commendable work. Few things like the slowness of the movie made some people point fingers at the film. But, this film was required for us to see. We need more films like Forrest Gump. It has a mix of crucial aspects like love, struggle, patience & hard work. Our generation should see this.
