One Line Review: Gangajal is the most honest and action-filled police drama of Bollywood.
Introduction
Gangajal, in my opinion, is the most honest police drama movie ever created in the history of Bollywood. It is both good news and bad news. The good news is that this film raised the bar and the bad news is that it’s been almost one and a half-decade since the release of Gangajal and we havenβt witnessed anything remotely close to it.
Plot Summary
IPS Amit Kumar is assigned to stop the increasing number of crimes in a small town in central Bihar where he faces corrupt politicians and terrified subordinate officers who are too afraid to go against Sundar Yadav and gang.
Script and research
Prakash Jha’s script shows the amount of good and in-depth research about Bihar. Many of the events depicted in the film are real and handled very cleverly. Jha’s management is top-notch. Movies in a very realistic way. Unlike other police movies here, the hero does not use the barrel of the gun as a means to end the threat. Ajay Devgan once again demonstrated his talent as an actor and his screen image as a star.
He lit his cigar with his eyes, and his conversation was absolutely top-notch. Mohan Joshi also tried to downplay his role but failed. Yashpal Sharma speaks. Akhilendra Mishra is desperate. Mohan Agash was as terrible as ever. Ayub Khan is fine. However, after Ajay Devgan, if any actor is influential, it is undoubtedly Mukesh Tiwari. As a police officer, Tiwari deserves recognition for his outstanding performance.
Acting
Ajay Devgan’s portrayal of the protagonist’s character is wonderful. His role is worthy of praise or reward. It is played in a mature and sensitive way. He is not as excessive as most actors do when they get a strong role. He played real and controllable. Gracie Singer is fine. Mukesh Tiwari is also very good, it is not as loud as other movies, it is also very controlled. Mohan Joshi played a typical villain role, probably did it millions of times. Yashpal Sharma is also very good. Other than what they did in other movies, there is nothing to do with the villains. Interpol is good too. The incident in the cell gave me goosebumps because it was an adaptation of real events and it was very wild. I find it very interesting, they only allow one swear word in the whole movie. Haha.
This film is not just a police film about the fight against corruption. The information hidden in it is much greater. It is about the demise of human civilization and how fundamental rights were crushed by it when it died. The right to freedom of the press and the freedom to oppose the majority. The film finally shows the transition from democracy to anarchy to democracy. It’s amazing, I didn’t expect it to be such a good movie, but it’s true. Errors in society can be cured, but the cure begins with ourselves.
Iconic Song from this film
The music of the film is not the benchmark. The creators didnβt put much emphasis on the music in the movie because of the dark and serious nature of the script. There are four songs in the whole movie that are equally good. The song βAlhad Mast Jawaniβ ranks higher on the list because of the timing of the songs.
Lyrics are:
βAlhad Mast Jawani Bemisaal Re
Hua Haye Chauk Chaurahe Pe
Alhad Mast Jawani Bemisaal Re
Hua Haye Chauk Chaurahe Pe
Chauk Chaurahe Pe Hai
Charcha Main Kamal Re
Hua Haye Chauk Chaurahe Pe
Mere Pallu Ke Kone Mein
Laakho Laakho Dil Latke
Mere Pallu Ke Kone Mein
Laakho Laakho Dil Latke
Kis Kis Ka Rakhu Khayal Re
Samjhau To Karte Hai Yeh Bawal
Hua Haye Chauk Chaurahe Pe
Chauk Chaurahe Pe Hai
Charcha Main Kamal Re
Hua Haye Chauk Chaurahe Peβ
Conclusion
This is one of the most celebrated and watched police dramas of all time in Bollywood. I loved and enjoyed watching the Villain, to be honest, then calm and collected Ajay Devgan.
