Plot
Incendies is a story of a twin brother and sister who go on a journey to fulfill their mother’s last wish of finding their brother and father.
The movie starts with the death of Nawal. As the kids prepare for the last rites, they realize, as her last wish, Nawal wants a couple of letters delivered, one to their father and another to their brother, before she is buried.

The story is set in middle east and during the civil war time. It intrigues the audience once the siblings go on the journey to find their brother and father. It narrates what Nawal had been through before migrating USA.

Performances
We get to see some great performances throughout the movie. Lubna Azabal, who plays Nawal makes us go through different emotions. The story of a mother trying to find her firstborn makes us feel sympathetic towards her.
Jeanne (Melissa Désormeaux-Poulin) and Simon (Maxim Gaudette) are equally important to the plot played beautifully by both the actors.
Plot
The answer to the mystery is unveiled by the twins and what makes it perfect is that they do it by asking a question rather than answering it.
Opinion
Incendies is one of the best foreign-language films I have watched so far. It keeps you hooked till the end as we get to know what exactly happened with Nawal and how her children Simon and Jeanne go on a journey to find their brother and father.
The film created a lot of curiosity inside me as I was watching and it completely shocked me in the last 15 minutes. Denis shows us everything, he gives us hints, but yet we ignore what is going to come at the end of this movie.
Conclusion
Incendies is Denis Villeneuve’s best movie, according to critics, despite some of the great movies he has directed.
Incendies was nominated for Academy Awards in the foreign-language category as it’s a French movie. Anyone who loves watching cinema must watch this movie.
