Rajakannu is arrested by the cops out of the blue for a theft case along with his other family members including Sengeni. Review

According to me, a movie is perfect when you literally forget the fast forward button while watching on a device. To make a movie not slow anywhere when it’s a drama is a tedious job. Director Gnanavel just did that with Jai Bhim. Jai Bhim is intense, serious, disturbing but not boring at all. No misplaced or forced scenes or songs throughout the movie. It sticks strictly to the plot and never slides off till the climax.

What makes you sit through the movie primarily are the performances, Everyone knows how perfect an actor Suriya is. When he is given a character-oriented role like that of Chandru’s, he will obviously live it onscreen. So no surprise in it. In Jai Bhim, Lijo Mol’s performance literally overshadowed Suriya. She was extraordinary as Sengeni. But again, not just her. Manikandan as Rajakannu, Prakash Raj as Inspector Perumalsamy, Gurumoorthy as the sub-inspector… the whole cast gave out their best performances onscreen.

The director was able to show the police brutality that happened with the tribals in this case in a gut-wrenching manner. Jai Bhim ends with a powerful message that the politics in the film holds up, that is, equality.

Conclusion

After the majestic success of Soorarai Pottru, Suriya is back with a super-strong movie that is rich with content and exemplary performances.
