Summary
Joymon, a male nurse working in Canada is fed up of loneliness and depression, decides to return Kerala to celebrate his birthday. Joymon, for whom this birthday celebration is a big deal, sets everything up in prior and decides to have a party at his friend Sambath’s house. Sambath who didn’t like this caves in due to the compulsion of Faizal, who’s also a friend of Joymon. Out of the blue, a death happens in a house right opposite to Sambath’s house. The movie goes on switching from the funeral and the birthday in an interesting way.
Review
It is hard to judge a movie like Jan E Man. At times, we’re confused whether to laugh or even how to react about the things happening onscreen. The very concept of bringing two conflicting situations like birthday and a funeral together itself was a great idea and Chidambaram succeeded in presenting it in a unique manner.
Joyman’s peculiar character and his attitude towards people and situations is defined the fact that he’s suffering from loneliness and depression. While the people at the funeral are disturbed by the noisy party happening opposite their house, the birthday boy is adamant to make his birthday colorful despite of all the gloominess at the neighborhood.
The movie takes interesting turns at certain points thereby not making you feel much detached or bored. Towards the climax, a set of unexpected turns of events and some hilarious punches gives it the best ending.
Conclusion
Jan E Man is a light-hearted, yet an interesting watch!
