Plot/Storyline

Joji, an engineering dropout is the youngest son of P. K. Kuttappan. Joji’s elder brother is Jomon and his second elder one is Jaison. All the three including Jaison’s wife Bincy are scared of Kuttappan and are forced to leave as per his expectations. One fine day, Kuttappan has a stroke and is admitted to the hospital under a serious condition. Expecting his demise, his family including Joji are expecting freedom from his clutches along with the hope of partitioning his assets.

Kuttappan recovers from his ill condition and shows miraculous development. Joji tries his tantrums to get rid of his dad and succeeds. The rest of the story is about how Joji handles the situations and tries everything under his sleeve to cover himself up and his crime.

Review

Exceptional is the word! When Dileesh is behind the camera and an actor like Fahad is before it, you are guaranteed an excess of talent and perfection throughout the movie. This was evident from their previous team-ups too. Dileesh hit the bullseye again with Joji.

The mood of the movie is so haunting that it stays with you even after watching the movie. Fahad’s performance as Joji is just out of the world. His mannerisms, attitude, and criminal thinking affect you as if everything is real. I bet that you will never see anyone acting in Dileesh’s frames. It’s just too close to reality. Baburaj – an actor who once did anti-hero roles and then stepped into the shoes of a comedian, occasionally brushing some character roles as well literally blew my mind as Jomon in Joji. This will be treated as his career-best performance to date.

I love the way Dileesh treats his movie. Even the rooms, stairs, and chairs inside a house tell you a tale. Only a very few film makers can affect you in this way with their way of storytelling. The depth and details he has added to each and every character of Joji are just too perfect and as I mentioned, Joji haunts you and will continue to.

Conclusion

Dileesh’s close to reality treatment in his stories always are a treat to watch and Joji too is an exceptionally well-crafted movie by this master director where Fahad and Co deliver their best performances.

A must watch!
