Introduction
Insiders, Netflix’s first reality television show produced in Spain, aims to tell the unfiltered and real experiences of its contestants by filming them while they are unaware that they are being filmed at all times throughout the process. It is hosted by Najwa Nimri, who is best known for her role in Money Heist, and it is entirely filmed using hidden cameras. The series, which is scandalous and provocative in nature, was created by Jose Velasco and the Equipo Creativo Izen and directed by award-winning director Mamen Fernandez, who is also the show’s creator.
Plot Analysis
The series is divided into episodes, with each episode lasting anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour. This is, most likely, the first season of this reality television series. Subtitles and audio for this show are available in both European Spanish and English for viewers around the world to listen to and enjoy.
The story revolves around 12 ordinary people who believe they have made it to the final round of selection for a reality television show in which they must adapt to the house in which they will be living: a training process. However, they are completely unaware that they are being recorded in an unguarded environment from the very first day of the show, which has already begun. The first episode begins with host Najwa Nimri providing us with all of the technical spoilers, including the blueprint of the house as well as the knowledge that more than 68 cameras and 200 hidden microphones have been installed in the house where the contestants are currently residing in.
Characters
The show introduces us to their contestants: Estefania, Laura, Barbara, Nicole, Olaya, Cinthia, Fran, Hugo, Peter, Fama, Ivan Molina, and Ivan Miguez, all of whom portray themselves in a positive and natural light, which is undermined throughout the course of the show, causing us to realize that when you are aware that you are being recorded, your behavior differs from when you are not aware that you are being recorded.
A phase in which the contestants, all of whom are aspiring to win, go through a data analysis process in order to become the ideal pick is conducted through the use of a data analyzer that assesses them in terms of assertiveness, activeness, persistence, meticulousness, reactivity, sensitivity, empathy, collaboration, social desirability and vulnerability. Later on, however, we discover that the data analyzer software is also a hoax, and that all of the readings have been manipulated by the show’s creators.
No favoritism
As the episodes progress, contestants begin to be eliminated one by one, some of them legitimate and some of them fictitious, until the final four contestants are revealed in the finale. In order to meet the one winner who will receive the award money of 100,000 euros, we must navigate through manipulation, strategies, and some broken trusts.
Conclusion
To secretly record 12 people without them realizing it is a difficult task that Insiders manages to complete with the calm of an obedient cat. A platter of human beings at their most vulnerable is served up in this show, with few making the most strategic decisions and a few crumbling under the pressure of being a desired, good person. This is no different than any other show.
