One Line Review: It is a pleasant and enjoyable love story with a good dose of music in this Netflix original film, which stars Amanda du-Pont and Nay Maps.
Introduction
In addition to Amanda du Pont and Nay Maps, James Borthwick and Brady Hofmeyr also star in Little Big Mouth. The romantic comedy is now available on Netflix in its entirety. Gray Hofmeyr and Ziggy Hofmeyr directed and co-wrote the film with Louw Venter, who also served as the film’s producer. As described by the streaming platform, it is “a charming, feel-good, and romantic film.” Check out our review to find out if it checks all of the boxes or not.
Plot Summary
“After being kicked out of his band and his home, a playful guitarist seeks refuge with a bookkeeper, her son, and her father,” according to the synopsis. “Do you think it’s possible for us to make some sweet music together?”
Love Story of a music enthusiast
The Netflix original film Little Big Mouth is a love story about a guitarist named Siya (portrayed by Nay Maps) and a singer named Mel (played by Amanda du-Pont). The two first meet at a wedding where Siya is performing with his band, and the rest is history. He, on the other hand, ruins the performance, and the band is not compensated at all. Siya is kicked out of the band by the other members due to his lack of professionalism and unapologetic attitude.
Siya meets Mel outside the building after being ejected and the two immediately hit it off. Mel decides to let him stay in her home until he can find a new job and a place to live with her family. Their friendship quickly develops into a romantic relationship. Unfortunately, there are two antagonists in their love story: Mel’s father and her son Luke (Brady Hofmeyr). Mel considers both of these individuals to be valuable, and she does everything in her power to sabotage the couple’s relationship. What is Mel going to do? Will there be a happy ending to the love story? It is in the film that you will find the answers.
Straight to the point
The Netflix series Little Big Mouth doesn’t waste any time in demonstrating how playful and unbothered Siya is. He’s a gifted guitarist and singer who, however, doesn’t seem to belong anywhere. When he meets Mel and her family, his life is forever changed. Mel, on the other hand, is a single mother who is content with her life and the company of her son and father. Despite having a tragic romantic past, she is a hard worker who is open to romantic relationships. The couple is able to bring out the best in one another.
In addition to good humour and music, the film contains romantic elements. I can’t stop gushing about how beautiful Amanda du Pont appears in her role as Mel. She’s a dream, and her chemistry with Nay Maps is hot as a hot lava lamp. Siya from Nay Maps is insane, but she has a beautiful voice. Brady Hofmeyr, who plays Luke in the Netflix film, is, however, the film’s star. While his attempts to extricate Siya from his mother’s life are amusing, they are also dangerous at times.
A significant role is played by music in the rom-com, in addition to the story and performances. Some songs are upbeat, while others are soul-stirring in their delivery. To warm the cockles of our hearts, I wish there had been more soft songs and more romantic scenes between Siya and Mel.
Conclusion
As a whole, the most recent Netflix film is entertaining, pleasant, and will put a smile on your face. It’s a story about love, good music, family, and being a part of something bigger than yourself. We are accustomed to seeing romantic comedies starring teenagers or characters who are predominantly white. In contrast to one of Hollywood’s most popular genres, the South African film presents a heartwarming story that will appeal to audiences everywhere.
