One Line Review: Mungarumale is still hailed as the game-changer in the genre of love stories in Sandalwood.
Mungarumale: A Tale of Romance
Mungarumale will be the result returned to you by Google if you searched for the first Indian Movie to be continuously screened for over a year in a multiplex. Such was the impact created by the movie.
Director Yogaraj Bhat came up with a love story that was so new to the audience during 2006 when they were being bombarded by the usual cliche romantic tales.
Yogarajโs writing with a capturing performance by the then debutant Ganesh made people watch this beautiful movie over and over. This made Mungarumale one of the biggest and evergreen hits in Kannada.
I wonโt think twice to give this one a 10/10 rating!
What’s It About?
Pritam, a happy go lucky guy, happens to meet a girl (Nandini) accidentally and falls in love with her without even knowing her identity. Pritam travels to Madikeri with his Mom and sees Nandini there.
After proposing to her, Pritam finds out that she is engaged and yet he promises that he will marry her if they happen to meet again.
Despite everything, when the duo finally falls in love with each other, they have to now confront one of the biggest hurdles ahead.
Throughout the movie, you can see the presence of rain and the movieโs name itself if translated means โPre-Monsoon Rainsโ. The rain accompanies Pritam throughout his tale of Love and it is beautiful.
What’s to Like? ??
When a good cinematographer is in a movie, you expect some โwow factorโ from the visuals. Here, the whole movie is filled with such factors.
Ganeshโs way of handling various moods of Pritam, let it be his humorous sense with witty one-liners, his love towards Nandini, or his heartbreaks, was exceptional throughout.
Pooja Gandhi too has done justice to her role as Nandini.
Ananthnag has brought perfection to the role offered to him – Nandiniโs father Colonel Subbaiyah, a strict yet fun-loving father.
Apart from mind-blowing visuals and performances, Yogaraj Bhat has filled the movie up with songs that arenโt just good but too good that they will clutch to your mind permanently.
Verdict
Mungarumale is a soulful tale of romance and those who are into love stories and/or family-oriented movies must try this masterpiece!
