One Line Review: Title Impresses, Movie doesn’t.

What’s it About?
I saw this movie getting recommended to me constantly, quite frankly the title was really impressive and really got me excited for the movie but the film got me stressed. Here’s why.
Plot Summary
A former soldier is suffering from mental conditions and was under therapy for PTSD. He lives away from his wife and family but visits them occasionally. One day when they were at a restaurant, her daughter gets kidnapped by a bunch of bandits. He then, losses his mind and starts becoming the man he left behind in his past. Now he is up to a very personal task of getting her daughter free from those bandits
Way too much Backstory
The film should have been a super hit. The story is of the right kind. The character is someone whom everybody wants to see. A strong warrior who has left his past behind but did not forget how to crack open someone’s skull with a single shot of bullet. There is no problem at all in those two areas. Also, there was a good sufficient amount of action as well, you’ll see fights, you’ll see people getting stabbed, punched, hit by rods, everything. The only thing wrong with this movie was the director relied way too much on the backstory of the main character. It became frustrating after a while for the viewers. I know, it is important to show where did the hero come from in order to show who he really is but there should be an overuse meter or some measure of how much to show.
Weak Hero
While I mentioned above about the story being good and the character being someone whom we would like to know about, I want to add a tad more detail to that. The character is shown as a badass in the movie, but his actions and fights say otherwise. He is getting beaten consistently and continuously in one after one scene. Which is really not the way to go if you are not filming a documentary. Neither do the character should be invincible. It’s just the right amount of every seasoning.
Another thing, the director was seen actively cutting the screentime of the villains, as there were too many of them. Not quite something which a good film should have. The villains were the only badass part of this movie.
Verdict
I wish there were a bit fewer flashbacks and backstory, I could’ve managed with the hero getting smashed consistently. Anyways, here we are.
