Story

Bruce Banner is trying to find a cure for himself after his gamma radiation accident because if he loses control over himself, he’d turn into a monster who is called Hulk.

Meanwhile, General Ross is searching for him as he thinks Bruce is a U.S. govt. Property.

Performances

Edward Norton has done really well as Bruce Banner. We empathize with him, watch him struggling to find that cure, and how he is cut off from everyone.

William Hurt, who plays General Ross has a character arc in this story, who has a change of heart at the end of this movie.

Tim Roth is a perfect antagonist in the movie who is weak till the second act of the movie and transforms into something as powerful as the Hulk.

Hulk vs Abomination is one of the best fight scenes in the whole movie.

Liv Tyler as Betty Ross is integral to the plot, her portrayal shows us how Bruce leans on to her even when he turns into the Hulk.

Screenplay, Direction, Editing

Written By Zack Penn.
Characters By Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

The screenplay is not as good as Ironman, but it’s decent enough to keep you hooked till the end. Louis Leterrier, who is the director of the movie knew that his movie would be compared to Ang Lee’s and he doesn’t disappoint you in many places.

The action sequences are better despite having a predictable storyline. The film is edited by Rick Shaine, Vincent Tabaillon, and John Wright. Editors are the ones that have to be given credit, who have made this movie a little bit interesting.

My Views

This was the first MCU movie that had a post-credit scene and the mention of The Avengers. My expectations with this movie were high after Ironman, but it’s nowhere close to it.

Ang Lee took his time to introduce us to his Hulk while this one rushes it at the start of the movie. As it is the fresh storyline or origin story they should have taken a bit more time like it was done in Ironman.

The film relies completely on the confrontation between Hulk and General Ross at the start and later between Hulk and Abomination. It could have been better if the storyline would have been more interesting.

Action sequences were something that is good about this movie. This is the least interesting movie in Phase I of MCU. I would rate it a medium 2.5/5.

Final Verdict

Mediocre Story with some good action sequences. One Time Watch.
