Introduction

Wednesday is a spinoff based on the animated television series ‘The Addam’s Family’ even though no direct links to its plot.

Wednesday isn’t exactly full of woe for viewers, but without Jenna Ortega in the lead, this Addams Family-adjacent series might as well be another CW drama.

Our rating for Wednesday is 09/10.

Summary

Wednesday Addams is expelled from school due to violent behavior towards the students there in the name of revenge. The peculiar Wednesday is admitted to ‘Nevermore Academy’, a school for the outcasts. Wednesday’s parents being the alumni of the school expects Wednesday to have a great time there.

Wednesday, who is always pale and cold-face, who’s into dark things vows to get out of the school as soon as possible, partly due to her love-hate relationship with her mother. A couple of mysterious killings and Wednesday’s encounter with a monster keeps her back n the school to unravel the mystery.

Review

To start with, Jenna Ortega is spectacular as Wednesday. The eerie spooky high-school girl who looks goth and cold will blow your mind. The makers had backed the entire series with an eerie mood with some tremendous composition. Everything about the series will remind you a lot about the Harry Potter Series as the mood set and the world of the story is very similar, although the series is a standout on its own.

The plot is intriguing and doesn’t give away the suspense till the end. What starts as a dark-humor presentation quickly levels up to a murder mystery with a tad bit of necessary emotions now and then. Overall, Wednesday is a very interesting watch and a successful attempt by the makers to deliver something Gothic in nature.

Conclusion

Wednesday is an enjoyable watch majorly due to the spookiness of the plot and because of Jenna’s stellar performance.
